About Me

The view from my classes in Lugano, Switzerland

My name is Mackenzie Frank and I am originally from Efland, NC. For as long as I can remember, education has been a big part of my life. I attended high school in Hillsborough, NC and went on to do my undergraduate, freshman year at the College of Charleston. At CofC, I was given the opportunity to study abroad in Lugano, Switzerland. I gratefully took the opportunity. Studying in Switzerland pushed me out of my comfort zone and opened my eyes to just how big the world really is. After my freshman year, I decided to transfer to UNC-CH where I am currently a third year student. I am a part of the Hussman School of Journalism and Media, where I have chosen to focus my studies on journalism. My transition to studying journalism has been very fulfilling. I am confident in my decision to pursue studying and working in journalism.

Outside of my educational life, I love to travel and read. I have traveled to Mexico, Switzerland, Italy, Hungary, and more. I like to travel because I get to experience new climates, cultures, and foods. Through travel, I have learned that I would like to live and work internationally at some point. Moreover, I love to read. My favorite books are “The Great Gatsby” by F. Scott Fitzgerald and “The Handmaid’s Tale” by Margaret Atwood. I am currently reading “Beautiful World, Where Are You” by Sally Rooney. Reading helps me decompress and slow down.
